Craft Weekend Part I

Dear Readers,

again a busy weekend is behind us. This time with two days longer than usual. Therefore, the report also tells time in two entries. We have spent the four days over again 1.000 Photos shot and 1 GB films have been made. So there's a lot to watch again 🙂 Here's a review:

On Thursday, I'm against 17 Clock alone on board to. Cati has just the plain up to my ears and wants to meet Friday. I start with a delightful café on the aft deck into a long weekend. There is a lot to do, But I've made up my mind, This time a few moments of rest in between to seek, between at least five chapters in my latest book “Bumfuzzle to read. By the way, a true reading Tip! The story of an American couple, who have never before been on a sailing boat, But anyway to buy a catamaran and go around to the pumpkin. Time a very different kind of Weltumseglerbuch, wonderful to read!

So I sit with my coffee on the aft deck and post a photo of the coffee cup in front of the loop on Facebook. I promptly set in motion a chain. Within the next few hours, the picture is divided by an American, of three other similar photos of her coffee cup in front of aqueous background (in one case for lack of lake in front of a bowl with water) posted. Funny. Social media is already impressive and frightening at the same time.

Said photo on the aft deck

The café on the way, I owe a friendly man from Munich. In a post Three weeks ago I had mentioned, that many long cruising install for some time donation button on their websites. For this purpose I have right below the “Coffee Checkout” introduced - and I am very pleased with the first throw. Many thanks to Munich! 🙂

Thursday evening I was reading also the first two chapters “Bumfuzzle” und bin nach einem Teller Bratkartoffeln früh in der Koje. Friday the work really early. First, I'd better sit down, to cut a panel for radio deal. Then another one for the new shower fittings. Both I prefer a few times with clear lacquer.

Next item on the program will be the control mechanism. I had hoped quiet, I can rebuild it relatively simply, that we only have about two turns of hard on hard, instead of five! But Nope. What comes out from under the cover, I can identify as an old truck control, which is not so easily be pimp. I would have to rebuild the entire control. Therefore, first with vinegar and autopilot to control quadrant. It will probably be a first wheel pilot.

Instead, I'm from the Windpilot-Builder recommended solution to address and build a rudder blade. One, which you can maneuver to port out of the water. This is then sent to the old hardware of nostalgia from the past windvane mounted on the wind and pilot actuated. The main rudder is fixed. Direct can hardly affect the windvane. Although I've never built a rudder - but that will just work out somehow ...

In the afternoon I'm building from the addition to YACHT-testing purposes provided hydraulic generator Watt&Be an. Madness of. I'd like to have such a. But what the cost ... I do not like the price on the percentage of U.S. shipyard. The wonderful part is on the ladder, fits perfectly. Our ship has just the right size.

In the evening I'll then Cati from Kiel. Nico and even by Birte “Ballyhoo” travel to. Together we want - as traditionally - some Bernese sausages (Lidl) throw on the grill, But not only the large parking lot is packed into Kopperby, and the barbecue area is moved twice. But why do we have such a large aft deck? Two teak logs onto, up the grill - and because we have all the finest barbecue places in the loop. Later colleague Nils and his wife are coming for a beer to. A really nice evening. Fast so, So there's a lot to watch again 🙂 Here's a review
