Gedser? Goes like this ...

Dear Readers,

We have been blowing. In Gedser. Ironically, in Gedser, a rather deserted corner of Denmark. There is not even an ATM, could provide for you with the Danish crown.

But at least we are finally under way. We got away late for this year's summer cruise. Almost a week later than planned. Because in time for the long-awaited start of the holiday we were both sick in bed. I felt pretty drained for three weeks and ready for a holiday, so that I could use the first few days to gather strength well, Cati was added to the exam stress it so much, that they spent a week in hospital. The sense of balance was playing suddenly crazy and the whole world had suddenly ten degrees angle of heel. “Sailing could be the solution”, she suggested, but it should still pass a few quiet days at home, until they came on board in port saint. I had the boat been sailed singlehanded there. Since Friday my crew is now back to full strength. Cati is better, my uncle is also on board - and it comes together this year, now the East.

Because Catis not always entirely produced Fitheit we can tackle it but a little quieter, than planned. Too bad, because above all they had looked forward to the long-range and night-by-Segelei. Instead, we now hoof it from place to place. From Heiligenhafen it went yesterday to nine miles Burgtiefe, Then yesterday about 30 Miles to the far Gedser. Shortly before the finish line last night, we have gotten a little more wind. Wind force eight indicated the small anemometer. A harbinger, because now it blows here permanently with seven winds. We are firmly on the bridge and wait for the wind abates. Have a few small jobs done on the boat, Uncle Uwe explored the small town of Cati and read.

We hope, that it goes tomorrow. Should subside in four to five winds.

Here are a few first photos and a short video of the crossing to Denmark. The new “Maverick too” is a great sailor! 🙂

Regards,

John
