Segeln? Bald, bald …

Dear Readers,

on our website, at Facebook and above all at Youtube it has become quiet. Warum? We are renovating.

The past few weeks, since taking over our new house in the south of Quickborn, were pretty turbulent. We only had four weeks, to make the house at least as livable as possible, that we can move in. A house, apparently since 1969 had not been particularly renovated and had been empty for many years.

Clear, that no miracles could be performed in such a short time. But now we at least have a multifunctional bedroom/office/Theo's playroom and also a living room/kitchen/guest room/staircase ready, to be able to live here. The “Küche” resembles more of a pantry, because it is just a table with a hot plate, a few plates and glasses. Washing up is done in the bathroom (Stand: 1980). It was more comfortable on board. But we are used to tight spaces. Und jetzt, where we live here, After finishing work from my home office, we now have a short distance to the construction site, to gradually renovate a few more rooms.

Or so we thought.

After we had already been visited by a burglar in our new home, We have now ordered new windows for the entire house and the renovation work will therefore soon come to a standstill, until there is enough money in the till again, to carry on.

The advantage of this is (We see everything positively...), that we have time to sail in August!

We actually wanted to go with the Etap this summer 22 my father's trailer to Croatia. We have never taken such a long trailer vacation before and ever: We still know far too little about the Mediterranean. But then the construction site came and we postponed the plans for the time being, because there will probably be no time. Then Corona came along and we completely postponed the plans until next year.

But now, with the new time window, We have simply rescheduled and will be trailering to the Müritz for a week. We are really looking forward to a vacation on the Mecklenburg Lakes. After five years in the Atlantic, I was really looking forward to inland sailing and such an idyllic experience, nice area. But above all on anchoring and on it, Theo is slowly getting used to the water.

Sailing on the Etap will be a change. The boat is small and spartan. The Electric Race, the sails are old and have already sailed across the Atlantic twice (no joke!). Back to the Basics. I always think it's good, when you spend a summer on a sea dwarf every few years. That's incredibly grounding. Apropos: If anyone still has an old Optimus- or Origo cookers for sale, bitte melden! 🙂

Another piece of news: We want that in October “Sailing sofa” revive and broadcast a new episode every four weeks.

Regards,

John, Cati and Theo
