The last week in retrospect …

Dear Readers,

now we have arrived back in Kiel. Monday I gave a talk at CCS in Zurich today and had the first three working days, before it goes on Saturday to the transfer of the Maverick to Germany. During trips to the Netherlands last week, I had all the time unfortunately do not have Internet access and was able to write only two short messages via mobile phone short. A turbulent and busy week is behind us. A trip to Holland, thus began the, that we have found just before the border, that the key still in the boat keel hangs on the wall. So we are again 300 km back down and have brought him … 😉

Here are some impressions of last week:

Arrived on board, after 1.200 km on the highway. The wind pilot may be heat related schonmal …

Then it goes on Tuesday morning from the lock in the Haringvliet.

Catis first Smuggling, it is accordingly excited – But everything is very relaxed.

Hardly funneled we turn left and are in the marina of YAGRA. The guys there have sipped my mail, with which I have registered a few weeks ago. But that does not matter, man ist spontan. Less than half an hour later moved to the crane.

For the first time we can see the ship and outside of. Previously we had at the dock, only the rear-view.

Have a green slime on the side wall. We are excited, how it looks from below …

Quickly dismantled the backstay, the tree removed – and it is already in the booms and floats on the water.

Amazing: The vegetation is not so bad! At least not worse, than after a season in the Baltic Sea. The previous owner could not tell me exactly, when is the last time you were out, but surely it was more than five years.

Short abgekärchert and already we are parked on the premises, including fixed.

First, we make it, the old and irreversibly verspakten Fender stabbing. There are new replacement.

When Kärchern is quite blown away by the water to pass. I'm starting to rub in and it gets wet. Bubbles are visible. I stab at it, smell at the liquid and it is obvious: “Maverick” Osmosis is a ship. But I had reckoned that almost. There will be a long winter …

The nests on the waterline, rudder and wide, up to five centimeters in diameter. But, fortunately, not very deep, only a maximum of 1,5 to 2 Millimeter. All hard-hit places that I find, to stab myself and let dry for two days. Of course, not enough, But there must be enough for this summer.

Cati is not so thrilled by the discovery …

But since we have to. A new life: The fight against osmosis.

Since coming out properly what …

Detailed work.

The view from the deck is great. We can look up on the Haringvliet.

In between, the amazing wind pilot is installed 🙂 Looks great!

In the morning, Halb eight in Holland. The fresh coffee helps us as the bunk.

Another surprise: The previous owner must have the ship set times on a shoal, has repaired the damage but obviously not thoroughly. Even so I'll have to take care this winter. To get everything for the transfer of resistant, loop with a radius of about 30 cm around all the damage down to the laminate down.

Detail. When Herausprokeln of wet and broken laminate before I come to the lead core.

In between is the polished screw primed by Cati. Shown on the right: Even the rudder blade is affected by osmosis.

In order to stabilize the leak in the wake of tight and everything, I fill the hole with thickened epoxy and four layers of woven roving laminiere, initially in a narrow strip, then broadening and overlap on the keel.

Brown spots: Colored putty. Is not become beautiful, but the keel has his old form back to Germany and should always keep the.

Two days later, we begin with the Antifoulingstreichen. But in the meantime we were not idle.

I installed as the new Bordklo, on the Bordkuh “Ricky” (after the Wild West legend “Maverick”) allowed to sit test.

After five days out of water goes back into the water Maverick. Barely recognizable.

Not only new colors under water – all cases, we have renewed.

Practice round on the Haringvliet. How gladly would we sailed with the other yachts, But we had no towels. But the sea air attracts out into the North Sea.

Even a new installation. A digital echo sounder, that works with the donor of the old-Seafarer echosounder. Thank you, Uwe! 🙂

For the second time in the lock to our berth …

… waits on the Maverick is now safe for us already. On Saturday it starts!
