Überführungstörn part 1

Dear Readers,

as I type these lines, I'm sitting alone on board the Maverick, in the marina of the small village “Wait” in the north of Holland. Actually, the boat should be pretty long in Germany, But the planned Überführungstörn turned out a little differently, than expected. For days, kept us trapped in the strong north wind Hellevoetsluis, prevented a quick trip to the North. When it became too much for us, We finally chose Plan B: That Standing-Mast Route. What should be a way out, proved to be a brilliant decision. An exciting week is behind us Kanaltuckerei. A week, in Holland we have really explored from the inside. Conclusion: Beautiful. Cati and I have found a new favorite country.
From Monday to Wednesday I had meanwhile returned again to Germany, three days work, I arrived back today and lunch on the boat. Recent work done, a new bilge pump installed, Finally reefing lines drawn, … Tomorrow it will now go on to Germany singlehanded. But first some impressions of the past week …

Fully loaded, it starts at the first of May in Holland …

Once on board, we still have to do some. Here the fresh fully assembled wind pilot.

In addition to the Maverick has a bird built its nest in the water. The first few days, he always protested, when we came close to him, But then he got used to us.

The drain of the old Volvo is one of the last things on your to-do list. The next morning, it should go off.

The resistance to wind power 5 to 6 North wind blowing on the North Sea makes it a thriving very difficult. So we choose the peaceful and scenically very much sexier way through the Dutch inland waters.

Much less on the wave Haringvliet, But lousy cold and rain again.

Downwind Course. Initial trials with the wind pilot. Work right away – I'm excited! 🙂

For the first time under full sail.

Stop for the night – in Dordrecht.

Close to lie close to the boats. We go on an old houseboat into parcels.

The Bordkuh has a lot to see.

Only rarely do we have long, as here, wait for the opening of a bridge.

Holland-impressions.

What is interesting is the night journey across Amsterdam. First it goes in a pack of 20 Boats in the lock …

… then the sprint from bridge to bridge. Against 5 Clock in the morning we reached the sea marker …

… and pass through to 13 Clock the entire IJsselmeer. No wind, no wave, for countless, annoying flies.

Wait maneuvers into port. Here, the Maverick is still.

Tomorrow will be from here on the North Sea singlehanded go to Cuxhaven.
